Inspired by the infamous L.A. beat scene alumni, Mise en Place is warm and hazy, full to the brim with vignettes and esoteric snippets. In culinary spaces, mise en place refers to having everything in its rightful place. With 23 songs lasting just over 35 minutes, sonic ideas are presented quickly, only to dip out, as Karyme directs everything to its rightful place. Instructive of this, Your Mind opens with a romantic groove, which Karyme then encases in toe-tapping drums and a bassline that could make your heart flutter.
